René Magritte

René Magritte (1898-1967) was a Belgian surrealist artist. He became well known for a number of witty and thought-provoking images. His work challenges observers' preconditioned perceptions of reality.

• The song "Semi-Weirdo" from the Muppet Babies episode "The Weirdo Zone" features Baby Gonzo in a spoof of "Golconde" holding umbrellas, a common object in Magritte's work. The song also features a more straightforward reference to "The Great War on Façades" with Gonzo driving by behind the woman.

• In the 1990 Sesame Street coloring book Museum of Monster Art, Ernie appears in a spoof of "Son of Man" and "Le Pèlerin".

• The 2015 TV special The Cookie Thief parodies "Son of Man" as "The Brother of Mr. Noodle" by Cookiee Magritte.
