"Let It Go?" reference in Muppets Most Wanted trailer

Frozen is a 2013 animated feature from The Walt Disney Company, loosely inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale of "The Snow Queen." The movie became a high-grossing, popular hit and led to sequels and spin-offs, including Frozen II (2019) and a Broadway musical.

The breakout song was "Let It Go," sung in the film by Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel), which reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2014.

References[]

  • "Let It Go" was referenced in a promo for Muppets Most Wanted, released on March 5, 2014, which quotes "Adele Dazeem" as saying, "Let it go? I say, just go." The name references John Travolta's onstage gaffe at the 86th Academy Awards, which occurred three days prior, where he mistakenly introduced Menzel as "Adele Dazeem."
  • In his 2014 appearance on the Mashable web series "Monumental", Kermit the Frog cited "Let It Go" as one of his favorite summer songs of the year, and later lip-synced to part of the original recording.
  • Kermit hosted "Kermit's Christmas Countdown" on the UK streaming platform Disney Life in 2017. The list, presented as one movie a day until Christmas Eve, included Frozen at #2 (with The Muppet Christmas Carol as #1).
