Baby Fozzie stands in for Krazy Kat

Krazy Kat is a cartoon character of indeterminate gender created by George Herriman. Krazy first appeared in a newspaper comic strip of the same name in 1913. The strip ran until 1944, and was a major influence on Pogo, Peanuts, & Calvin & Hobbes. Krazy also appeared in various animated forms in theatrical and television cartoons between 1916 and 1964.

Appearances

• In an animated insert created for season 5 of Sesame Street, Krazy and his strip co-stars Ignatz Mouse and Offissa Pupp demonstrate the word "LOVE." (First: Episode 0615) Ignatz loves his brick, while Krazy (with a female voice) loves Ignatz (and brings a gift of cheese). Ignatz beans Offissa Pupp with a brick ("Love?") and carves the cheese into LOVE. Krazy then protects a less than receptive Ignatz from the police pup on top of the word, as a voice-over notes "I love LOVE." The background music is Jack Benny's theme song "Love in Bloom."

• In the third season Muppet Babies episode "The Daily Muppet," during the song of the same name, Baby Fozzie appears in a Krazy Kat inspired comic. An Ignatz-type mouse throws a tomato at him, in place of the traditional brick.
