The Queen's (dubbed) appearance on Muppet Babies.

Elizabeth II (1926-2022) was the Queen of the United Kingdom from 1952 until her death in 2022. She made her residence primarily in Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty took an active interest in affairs of state, but more often avoided politics, taking a more ceremonial role. One example is her attendance at the Royal Variety Performance. At the conclusion of the 1977 performance, she personally congratulated Jim Henson and his puppeteers.

Decades later, Kermit the Frog was one of the many celebrities paying their respects during the Golden Jubilee celebrating her fiftieth year on the throne.

Her son, Charles III, inherited the throne upon her death; her daughter is Princess Anne.

Mentions[]

  • During a party at Claridge's following the 1981 wedding of Charles and Diana, the Queen, martini in hand, caught footage of herself on one of the monitors playing the ceremony on a loop. "Oh Philip, do look! I've got my Miss Piggy face on!"[1] A similar sentiment was expressed by Daily Mail columnist Lynda Lee-Potter when she wrote, "Diana is possibly the only member of the royal family who doesn't kowtow the instant she is fixed with one of the Queen's terrifying Miss Piggy looks.[2]

  • As part of a UK promotion for The Muppets premiere, Kermit answered questions for an Ask Kermit section on Twitter. When asked what his career highlight has so far been, he answered, "Weโ€™ve worked with all kinds of big stars but one of my all time favourites was when I met the Queen."[3]
