The Wonderful World of Disney is an anthology television series that has been produced by The Walt Disney Company under several different titles since 1954, originally hosted by Walt Disney himself. NBC broadcast the series from 1969 to 1979. When the series returned to the network in 1988, the title was changed to The Magical World of Disney. In 1997, after the Disney company acquired ABC, The Wonderful World of Disney returned to prime time, mainly as a movie of the week slot to air theatrical titles and made for TV entries.
A stand alone 1978 two-part special, NBC Salutes the 25th Anniversary of the Wonderful World of Disney, included an appearance by Big Bird.
