Der Spiegel ("The Mirror") is a weekly news magazine published in Hamburg, Germany. Its first issue was published on January 4, 1947. The magazine is owned by Gruner + Jahr, the largest European printing and publishing firm. An online version of Der Spiegel was launched in 1994.
Ernie and Bert appeared on the front cover of the March 5, 1973 issue to promote the series premiere of Sesamstrasse, the German co-production of Sesame Street, with an extensive article on the new show inside.
