Founded in 1984, Cirque Du Soleil is a French-Canadian performance art circus.
The Muppets visited the show in the Winter 1989 issue of Muppet Magazine.
Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy introduced a performance by Cirque Du Soleil at the 84th Academy Awards in 2012.

- Cirque Du Soleil was parodied in It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie in 2002, as the avant-garde show "Cirque du So Lamé." Gonzo hired Luc Fromage to stage the number which involved Mr. Poodlepants, The Bossmen, Miss Piggy, and three Primitives, with Rizzo, the Rats, and Scooter working backstage.
- A recurring plot in the Muppets' performance at the Just for Laughs comedy gala revolves around Cirque du Soleil being their special guest. Sweetums appears onstage as "Du", as Cirque and Soleil have canceled. Gonzo instead puts on his own act - "Cirque du Poulet" featuring his chickens.
- Cirque du Soleil is one of the performing groups Dominic Badguy mentions are attempting to sign him as a manager in Muppets Most Wanted.
- When the network insists a "splashy" makeover for Up Late with Miss Piggy in The Muppets episode "Swine Song", Fozzie Bear suggests they flood the stage like in Cirque Du Soleil. Lew Zealand offers an alternative as he throws a Boomerang Fish: Cirque Du Filet.
