"Chopsticks" is the only published musical composition by Euphemia Allen, a British composer who wrote the piece at the age of sixteen under the pseudonym Arthur de Lulli. Originally titled "The Celebrated Chop Waltz", the piece is a commonly known tune for the piano.
The chickens performed an abbreviated version of "Chopsticks" in episode 212 of The Muppet Show.
Liberace plays a longer version as part of his concert for the Birds during the closing number of The Muppet Show episode 309.
On Sesame Street, the piece was played as a cooperation exercise by the Two-Headed Monster (First: Episode 1366). Oscar the Grouch later played it — correctly, first — in his trash can in Episode 1371 after a piano delivery, then adjusted his performance to sound more grouchy.
