Ben-Hur is a 1959 film based on Lew Wallace's 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. The book was adapted into a film, an animated film, and a Broadway play. The 1959 film won the Best Picture Oscar and ten other Academy Awards.

- In "Welcome to Woodland Valley," Doc Hogg gets excited when his favorite film entitled Ben-Hare is playing at Woodland Valley Cinema. A scene from the movie parodies the chariot race scene.
- The At the Dance spot in episode 507 of The Muppet Show featured Eric the Parrot explaining to his dance partner at what point in history parrots learned to talk. According to Eric, the first School for Talking Parrots began over 2,000 years ago by one of Ben Hur's great aunts; hence the famous Parrots of Ben's Aunts.
