Learning to Add and Subtract is a 1987 Sesame Street direct-to-video compilation in the "My Sesame Street Home Video" series.

	FRAME 1	Big Bird welcomes the viewer and explains that he must learn to add and subtract very quickly. He has set up four spoons in groups of two, but he can't add them together. Maria comes by to help and helps him count them together - in other words, adding them.

	FRAME 2	Big Bird is able to add the spoons on his own, but panics when Maria wants him to add up five cookies. Maria explains that adding works the same no matter what you're adding.
	Cartoon	A mother bird adds her eggs that hatch. (First: Episode 2230)
	FRAME 3	Once again, Big Bird adds the cookies on his own. Maria now has him add 13 crayons, explaining to a flustered Big Bird that it's still the same as adding spoons and cookies. He is amazed at how many things one can add.

	Muppets	Bruce Stringbean, Clarice and S Street Band perform "Born To Add." (First: Episode 1375)
	FRAME 4	Just when Big Bird thinks he's done, he realizes he needs to learn how to subtract also. He calls for Maria, who helps him take away two bananas from six - also known as subracting them.
	Cartoon	"Five Bears in the Bed" get subtracted as they fall off the bed. (First: Episode 1231)
	Muppets	Ernie has a stack of seven cupcakes that he wants to take a picture of, but Cookie Monster keeps stealing cupcakes (which he calls "cuppycakes"). (First: Episode 0136)
‎	FRAME 5	Big Bird demonstrates his subtraction skills by subtracting the bananas on his own. Maria brings five of Bert's bottlecaps for him to subtract and explains that like adding, it doesn't matter what you subtract.

	FRAME 6	Big Bird reveals to Maria that he needed to learn all the addition and subtraction because he's giving Elmo the same lesson. Elmo arrives, and Big Bird is able to relay the same expert advice to Elmo - even the fact that at one time, he didn't know how to add and subtract himself!
