Lin-Manuel Miranda with Snuffy and Elmo

Lin-Manuel Miranda (b. 1980) is a Tony Award winning composer and lyricist, and a Tony Award nominated actor. He is most famous for writing and starring in the Broadway musicals In the Heights and Hamilton.

Miranda first participated on Sesame Street in 2008, providing the vocals for the "Murray Has a Little Lamb" theme song. He then made a guest appearance in the season 40 premiere as real estate agent Freddy Flapman. He also voiced a lamb in Episode 4262 (which, in a tweet, he referred to as "Lamb-Manuel").[1] Miranda also composed songs for the show between seasons 42 and 45.

In October of 2017, Miranda appeared in videos celebrating Puerto Rico on Elmo and Sesamo's Twitter feeds, and recorded a "Sesame Street Memory" video published in 2019. He also guest starred in Elmo's Playdate in 2020 alongside Anne Hathaway and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Miranda also made several appearances on the 2009 revival of The Electric Company. His other works include the translations for the 2009 revival of West Side Story.

  • Miss Piggy name-dropped Miranda in a 2017 interview with InStyle. Asked about her musical theater crush, Piggy said:

Lin-Manuel Miranda, of course ... but only after he completely assured moi that Hamilton was not some kind of veiled porcine insult. He’s adorable, and strictly entre nous, he's going to be writing a new musical for moi. Right now, I’m not at liberty to tell you more, but as soon as I tell Lin about it, you’ll be the first to know.[2]
