SCENE 1 Rosita welcomes and invites the viewer to see something Telly did, which attracts Oscar the Grouch peeking from nearby. Telly reveals that he (with Gordon's help) has written a book, which Oscar finds uninteresting, until he hears it's called The King's Dirty Shirt. The story is about a king who is in a panic because he's gotten mustard on his baseball shirt, and it must be clean for the upcoming game. He calls for his royal know-it-all (Oscar) to help him, who decides to pour mustard all over the shirt to hide the stain. This concerns Telly, when Humblina (Rosita) is on her way to the royal laundromat to wash some of her clothes. Telly thinks it's a better idea and takes his know-it-all to accompany her there, to the know-it-all's dismay.
