SCENE 1 Ruthie serves as narrator. While the prince and princess walk in the park, they hear someone who sounds very angry. It is the cloud (Bob), who is on the ground. He says that everywhere he goes, people tell him to go away, so he’s leaving the sky forever. The cute little red prince and the princess say that clouds belong in the sky. The cloud laments that it started yesterday, when he was over the beach, singing a song, minding his own business, when he saw a father (Jerry Nelson) and daughter (Alice Dinnean) on the beach: Bob sings a verse about how a fluffy little cloud is a person in your neighborhood. The father and daughter ask him to leave, because he is blocking the sun. Rosita, the sun, asks him to leave, too. So he floats away singing, and comes upon a farm, but a farmer (Ruthie) asks him to leave because her vegetables need sunlight. A carrot (Luis) asks him to leave too, and the sun says she already told him once to go away. The cloud says fine, he will leave the sky forever. After hearing his story, the prince and princess are determined to find a reason for the cloud to go back to the sky.
