COLD OPEN Rosita introduces today's sponsors, when Telly excitedly tells her it's somebody's birthday today. He gives her a clue: he lives on Sesame Street. Rosita wonders who it could be, when she overhears Oscar the Grouch talking about his "big day." Rosita assumes it must be his birthday and goes to prepare a surprise.

SCENE 1 Rosita surprises Oscar and singings "A Very Unhappy Birthday (To You)," joined by the Grouchketeers and even Oscar himself. Oscar enjoys the surprise, but loves it even more because it was a wasted effort; today's not his birthday. The "big day" is that the mudman is coming to delivery mud.
