Fats Waller (born Thomas Wright Waller, 1904-1943) was a jazz pianist, composer, singer and entertainer. He popularized many songs of the American playbook, including "Lulu's Back in Town," and had a Broadway musical revue, Ain't Misbehavin', built around his tunes.

  • In The Muppet Movie, Floyd says, referring to the 4-foot prune, "What in the name of Fats Waller is that?"
  • In an interview promoting The Muppets, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem were asked what some of the earlier influences on their music were, to which Floyd replied, "Fats Waller, most definitely! Also, Fats Domino, Minnesota Fats and David “Fathead” Newman…" Janice added, "Fer sure. We were into “Fat” before it was “Phat"."[1]
