SCENE Chris serves Bert his oatmeal (which he photographs for Instant Oatmeal-agram). Then, a man known as Vincent van Stop (Josh Gad) appears. Bert, a big fan, explains Vincent is a famous painter; he's made the most well-known signs in history. Vincent explains he's looking for an assistant and Bert immediately wants the job, donning his official Vincent van Stop smock and hat (purchased from the Vincent van Stop & Shop). Vincent states that Bert must first pass his sign painting challenge, then sings about how to paint like him with his Vincent van Stop Singers. Bert gets nervous; he can't handle the pressure of tests.

SCENE cont'd For the test, Bert is assigned to paint a sign reading, "ROAD"...but in 30 seconds! Bert fumbles over his canvas and topples over as the Vincent van Stopwatch reaches 30. They find Bert painted "POAD" instead. Vincent fails Bert, until Chris shows him how the letters P and R look so similar, it could be mistake anyone could make. Vincent allows for another try.

SCENE cont'd The next test is a "RESTROOM" sign. Bert ends up making the same error as before, but Chris convinces Vincent to give Bert one last try. Chris gives Bert a pep-talk to make sure during the next test, he's calm and talking himself through the painting process.

SCENE cont'd Bert's final sign is, unfortunately, "RANDY'S RUSSIAN RESTAURANT." Bert once again makes Ps instead of Rs and freaks out. Since Chris isn't allowed to speak during the test, he paints some messages to help Bert fix his mistakes and get through the test. Vincent is impressed...with both of them! He claims to have seen Chris' signs during the test and thinks he's a natural. He makes them both his assistants and brings them to his studio, while Chris tries explaining he already has a job.
