COLD OPEN | What's the Word on the Street?: Laundromat
SCENE 1 | At the new Sesame Street laundromat, Chris welcomes the viewer as he does his laundry. He says he loves the noises the washing machines make (singing a variation of "The Wheels on the Bus"), while an Anything Muppet lady disagrees with him.
SCENE 1 cont'd |
He folds his clothes, then notices he's got one missing sock (all the rest of his socks are in pairs). He wonders where his sock went, when Abby Cadabby poofs into view. He shows her the one sock he has which is missing its match, and she proceeds to show him the trick she was going to show Elmo: her "Two Trick," which involves turning one thing into two. With a spell, a talking sock appears, but it doesn't look anything like Chris' striped sock - this one has polka dots and is pink.
SCENE 1 cont'd |
The talking sock decides to take a dip in the "pool" (a washing machine), and Abby tries another trick, the "More Trick," which will make more socks. With more poofs, a Scottish-accented argyle sock appears, then a gym sock, then a baseball sock, and finally a baby sock. The five talking socks start running amok around the laundromat, confusing Chris. Elmo comes into the laundromat and joins Abby and the socks in doing the "Five Sock Conga."
SCENE 1 cont'd |
The socks go looking for Chris' missing sock, when the lady comes back with that very sock (which somehow ended up in her laundry basket). Chris finally has all his laundry done, and is ready go home - but now the socks want to follow him home as they conga!
