Oscar & Grungetta are heading off to the Nasty Car Races. They sing "Sloppy Jalopy." At the end of the song they try to drive off, but the car won't start. Grungetta can't get it to start, so Luis and Maria offer to help.
Oscar doesn't want to cooperate, but agrees when he realizes that otherwise they won't make it to the race. Luis is skeptical, but Maria goes to the library and gets a book: "How to Gunk Up a Sloppy Jalopy and Make It Run Again." They add anchovy syrup to the engine, but it doesn't help - although it does cover Luis and Maria with syrup. Luis thinks that it will take magic to get the jalopy working again.
Abby Cadabby arrives and Oscar suggests that she wave her wand and fix the car. Using her magic word (allerednic! - Cinderella backward) she turns the jalopy into a pumpkin - Oscar and Grungetta are not pleased. Abby uses her wand to call her mommy, who gives her a new spell which turns the jalopy back again. The car still won't start, but Abby disappears.
Gina and Marco come by, and Marco throws his juice bottle at the car - which makes it start. Just then another Grouch arrives to give Oscar his trophy. Since the jalopy never even moved, according to Grouch rules that means they won first place.
