STORY

It's time to "Ask Oscar!" After the Oinker Sisters sing the theme song, Telly reads off a letter by Little Ricky Roma inquiring what the round fasteners on his jacket are called. Being a grouch, Oscar refuses to answer the question, and disappears in his trash can to clean his elephant.

STORY, cont'd

Telly walks over to the Fix-It Shop, where Maria is supervising Natasha. He explains his problem, and suggests a plan to have Oscar answer Ricky's question.

STORY, cont'd

Telly, Maria, and Natasha congregate in front of Oscar's trash can. When Oscar asks what's going on, Maria explains that she's teaching Natasha new "B" words such as "baby," "booties," and "bonnet." After pointing out Natasha's buttons, she calmly asks Oscar what they're called...but he refuses. Maria motions to tell Little Ricky the answer to his question herself, but Telly halts her and suggests another idea to make Oscar do so.

STORY, cont'd

Telly explains his predicament to Alan in Hooper's Store, and begins to explain his new plan.

STORY, cont'd

Alan walks over with Telly to Oscar's can, holding a tray and trash bag. After Telly cues the show intro, Oscar pops out and inquires once again what's going on. Alan mentions that he was throwing trash away and wanted to know if Oscar would like it for his collection. Oscar turns down the offer, but is intrigued when Alan suggests playing a game with the trash.

STORY, cont'd

Alan sings "Three of These Things," pointing out the contents of the tray. Oscar correctly isolates the food scraps from the button, but once again refuses to identify it. Baby Bear walks by, however, and Telly follows him.

STORY, cont'd

Telly explains the circumstances to Baby Bear, and suggests a plan involving paint.

STORY, cont'd

Baby Bear has painted a picture of a button with Telly's head poking through. After leading him back to Oscar's can, Baby Bear calls for help. When Oscar appears, Baby Bear explains that his accomplice was once attached to a jacket and couldn't remember what he was called. When Oscar still refuses to help, Telly suggests indignantly that he simply doesn't know.

STORY, cont'd

After the two leave, Oscar discretely whispers that "they're buttons." Telly overhears, however, and Ricky's question is answered at last! Oscar groans, and the others sing the "Ask Oscar" theme song several times over.
