Alan is in Hooper's Store preparing a salad for Gordon -- but then the ground shakes, and he sees a dinosaur through the window. He can't believe what he's seeing. |
| | |
When Alan places Gordon's salad by the window, the dinosaur walks by again and eats it. Alan greets the dinosaur, who introduces himself as Herb; short for Herbivore the Plant Eater. |
| |
Herb leaves, and Gordon returns. Alan explains that a dinosaur ate Gordon's salad, but Gordon doesn't believe him.

Rosita and Zoe are on the steps of 123 Sesame Street arguing over a doll when Herb swings his neck overhead. He introduces himself, and suggests a solution from his own experience to address the problem at hand; however, Zoe notes that they might get hurt and suggests a simpler solution: Taking turns. They explain the concept of taking turns to Herb, who sings "You Learn Something New Every Million Years."
| |
Big Bird, Elmo, and four Birdketeers congregate in Big Bird's nest to sing "The Alphabet Song". Herb briefly peeks overhead, and Elmo asks if dinosaurs can sing the song too. Big Bird insists that dinosaurs are extinct.
| | |
As they sing, Herb comes back and introduces himself. He explains that he and his cousin Shirley (who he hasn't seen in 150 million years) are the lone surviving dinosaurs on Earth. The Birdketeers explain to Herb what the alphabet is, and they all sing the song together. Afterward, Herb walks off to learn more new things, and the Birdketeers recite their song again. |
| | Slimey the Worm wants to play, but Oscar is too busy giving his elephant, Fluffy, a bath. Maria comes by, and asks why Slimey looks so sad. Then Herb looms up over them, startling Maria. Oscar suggests that Slimey can play with the dinosaur. Slimey happily climbs on Herb's neck and goes for a ride. Maria can't believe what she's seen, and runs off to tell everybody. | |
| | | Gordon refuses to believe in the dinosaur, even though Maria, Big Bird, Elmo and Alan all claim to have seen him. The others leave Gordon alone to sit on the stoop -- and then Gordon sees Herb walk by, with Slimey riding on his back! |
