SCENE 2 Lulu enters the Mail It Shop, greets Maria, and asks if she has any mail. Just then, Ms. Camp, the letter carrier, arrives, and Lulu is awestruck. Maria explains that a letter carrier delivers mail, and Ms. Camp elaborates in a short sung verse of "The People in Your Neighborhood." When Ms. Camp leaves to make more deliveries, Lulu rushes off to catch up with her.

SCENE 2 cont'd Lulu breathlessly tells Ms. Camp how she wants to be a letter carrier just like her. Ms. Camp is impressed with Lulu's enthusiasm, and she lets her tag along as she delivers mail all over Sesame Street.

SCENE 2 cont'd They arrive at Big Bird's nest to deliver a package, but Big Bird isn't there, and the package doesn't fit in his mailbox. Ms. Camp decides to call over Gordon and has him give the package to Big Bird. Additionally, she writes a note for Big Bird, so he will know where his package is. Lulu reiterates Ms. Camp's process, not immediately realizing that Big Bird has arrived, so now, Ms. Camp only has to hand him the package. Ms. Camp tells Lulu that she has to deliver mail to other streets and says good-bye. Lulu desires to be a letter carrier like Ms. Camp, but she concedes with waiting until she's grown up. Big Bird mentions that she can pretend to be one right now. Lulu compliments Big Bird's idea and goes off to try it.

SCENE 2 cont'd At Hooper's Store, while Alan is serving food to some kids, Lulu comes by as a pretend letter carrier and gives Alan some pretend mail. Lulu continues to pop in, delivering more pretend mail to Alan until he explains that he's busy right now and doesn't need more mail. Lulu understands... but she pops in again to order a tuna melt for lunch.

SCENE 2 cont'd Letter carrier Lulu arrives at the Mail It Shop and tells Maria that she can't wait to grow up and be a real letter carrier. Maria suggests that Lulu might change her mind and favor another job. Lulu doesn't think so until she sees an ice cream vendor (an onscreen cameo by Jerry Nelson) passing by. Lulu immediately becomes fixed on becoming an ice cream vendor and excitedly chases after the vendor.
