Picture Segment Description

SCENE 1 Joey and Davey Monkey approach Oscar's newsstand, wishing to buy the latest issue of Amazing and Exciting True-Life Banana Tales. Oscar happens to have a copy, but the monkeys can't have it; he's holding it for someone who's already payed for it. The person turns out to be Ruthie. The monkeys feel betrayed and start sobbing, until they learn she bought it for them! Oscar moans that today will be a happy day on the street, but thinks things will turn around once Joey and Davey start arguing over who gets to read the magazine.
Cartoon A man demonstrates what newspapers are made of, and finds an ad for "One slightly used monster."

SCENE 2 Joey and Davey are still fighting (to Oscar's delight), but Ruthie gets them to stop. They realize that can't even read, so there's no reason to fight, but it also means they won't get to hear the stories. Ruthie offers to read it to them and they soon argue over what story to read.

They want Oscar to play the role of Kimball, the runaway banana. Oscar insists he's not playing and retreats to his trash can. The monkeys think he's getting a head start and they follow after him.

SCENE 5 Joey and Davey have followed Oscar to his can, where he wants them to scram. Ruthie comes by and Oscar begs her to get them to leave. They understand that it makes Oscar angry, so they relieve him from playing. They instead want to play "Cyber Mutant Banana Rangers," and want Oscar to play the villain, Rick Rotten. Ruthie announces the sponsors.
