COLD OPEN
Oscar the Grouch announces the sponsors, while his pet goat chews on Maria's sleeve.
SCENE 1
Maria's clothes are dirty, thanks to the goat. A fairy godmother comes to give her better clothes. First, she magically puts Maria in a ballgown, but after Maria says she doesn't want to go to the ball, the fairy godmother puts her in a nurses uniform. When that still doesn't satisfy Maria, the fairy godmother realizes that Maria should wear work clothes, and puts Maria back in her original outfit, looking the same as it did when the fairy godmother showed up.
