SCENE 1 Monty (wearing a Napoleon-style hat, the narrow way) cuts the theme song short to declare that this is the beginning (turning his hat to reveal the word printed on it). As trumpeters play a fanfare and confetti falls from above, a long snake, who addresses Monty with high-ranking nicknames (to Monty's chagrin), asks what "beginning" means. Monty elaborates by pointing out the beginning of the snake, who clarifies that he's a python.
