SCENE 1
Telly welcomes the viewer to Sesame Street, and asks Ruby to scratch the itch on his back. She decides to turn it into an experiment: can he scratch his back with his foot? He falls over when he tries it, so the answer is no. Telly has an experiment idea of his own: can he scratch his back on Ruby's shoulder? Yes he can!

Old West: Clementine breaks the bad news to everyone: Bad Bart is coming to town to "give someone what they deserve"! She says he will come when the cow moos four times. They listen for it, and first hear a train toot four times, then a dog bark four times, and finally the cow. Bad Bart steps into the saloon, looks for the bartender, and reminds him that last week, he ordered sarsaparilla, but the bartender didn't have it, so he went to another town to get it, and kept him waiting. Bad Bart forgot to pay the bartender for it, so he gives the bartender what he deserves: some coins.

SCENE 2
Snuffy and some kids get ready to play a "Three of These Things" game with some vegetables set on a table. To Bob's surprise, Flo Bear is also going to be part of the game. Snuffy points to the carrot, the squash, the cauliflower, then to Flo Bear. He sings the song, then asks the kids to guess which one doesn't belong. They decide that Flo Bear is the answer, and she proudly agrees. Snuffy then asks Bob to be one of the "things" in his next game.

SCENE 3
While Hiroshi has his lunch in the arbor, Buster passes by with the kids, who are carrying his groceries (three bales of hay). Hiroshi is surprised to learn that Buster only eats hay for each meal, suggests he should try new foods, and offers him a bite of his cheese sandwich. Buster, who has never tried cheese, takes a nibble, then a bigger bite, and ends up devouring Hiroshi's entire sandwich. Buster offers him some hay, using the same logic Hiroshi used earlier.

She explains to him that love is a feeling, not something that can be seen. Snuffy realizes that he cares a lot about Susan, and tells her he loves her. She has to leave, and Snuffy gives the famous "Tis better to have loved and lost" lament.

Hiroshi gives her the note, but since she doesn't have her reading glasses, he has to read it to her. He begins, and Flo announces the sponsors.
