SCENE 1 Telly holds a book in each hand to help build his arm muscles. Ruby turns this into an experiment to see how long he can do this. She starts counting until Telly gets tired and drops the books, making it all the way up to 20. Ruby makes sure he can do it again if she counts backwards. Telly struggles as Ruby forgets what numbers follow, but he's able to hold the books until she reaches the end.

Two of them are found in the bridgework, and the man uses the bridgekeeper's staff to draw a third triangle in the dirt. Although the bridgekeeper has his order filled, he asks the man to play a tune on his accordion. This additional request takes the young man by surprise, but he is told to do so for the opportunity to cross the bridge.

SCENE 3 Gordon is about to go for a run with Linda, when Ruby appears. She wants to tell Linda about her day, but realizes she doesn't know any sign language. Initiating another experiment, Ruby wants to see how much sign language she can learn before Linda shows up. Gordon tells her this isn't very possible as she doesn't need to know much sign language just to jog with her, and invites her to join them.
