Maria thinks he started the printer, but he insists he didn't. She lets him watch over the store while she returns to the back, asking him to not touch anything. He feels insulted with her lack of trust and goes back to talk with her.
SCENE 1 cont'd The Martians reappear and observe the phone, but knock over the clock in the process. Maria and Big Bird both exit the back and find the clock on the ground, shattered. Maria is very upset and blames Big Bird. She asks him to leave and the Martians see that they've made a mistake.
