Ditzies

Ditzies.

Gobo is selected to write the Glory Song, and he asks all the Fraggles not to sing for a little while so that he can concentrate. Just as he starts to get a handle on the song, the lights go out all over Fraggle Rock, and all the Fraggles and Doozers fall asleep. Eventually, only Gobo is left to figure out how to bring the light back to the Rock.

Meanwhile, Doc tries to find a way to communicate with other species starting with Sprocket.

Fraggle Facts

  • Once every generation, a Fraggle is chosen by random draw to write the Glory Song, a commemoration of that cycle of the cave. The song is a major part of the Fraggles' oral history, and Gobo's selection is an enormous honor.
  • It is revealed that the Ditzies are the light source of Fraggle Rock and live off the music there.

Notes

  • This episode illuminates one of the big mysteries of Fraggle Rock -- if they live in underground caves, where does all the light come from?
  • In 2011, this episode was the subject of a controversy. While watching the episode in reruns on The Hub, a father claimed that the racial slur "Jigaboo" was uttered. According to the episode's script, the line is "Gee Gobo." To prevent other viewers from making the same mistake, The Hub planned to edit Gobo's name out of the sentence before future airings of the episode.[1]
