Baby Tree Creature

Red is teaching a swimming lesson, Gobo is recounting his many adventures, Mokey is giving a poetry reading, and Boober is preparing a meal for the World's Oldest Fraggle. But Wembley feels like his life has no meaning until a giant egg falls from the sky and lands in the Fraggle Pond. The egg, which fell into the Gorgs' well when Junior Gorg tried to shake it out of its nest, belongs to Mama and Papa Tree Creature.

Wembley is the only Fraggle who recognizes the strange object as a "baby house," so he sits on the egg until it hatches. But when the Baby Tree Creature emerges and mistakes Wembley for its mama, Wembley discovers that he doesn't know how to take care of it. He tries feeding it a radish, and then some mashed peas Baby Tree Creature tries both, and says, "Yuck." Then Wembley goes to Boober for some food. He grabs the artichoke soufflé, and finds out that tree creatures don't like soufflés either. Mokey figured out what to feed the baby, but Wembley knows that he'll never be able to teach it how to fly. So with the help of his friends and some balloons from Doc's Workshop, Wembley airlifts the Baby Tree Creature out of Fraggle Rock and back to his home in the the Gorgs' Garden, where it is reunited with its family.

Fraggle Facts

  • The Fraggles have no clue on what an egg is, despite the fact that the Storyteller Fraggle mentions a Fraggle "hatching" in a story she told in an earlier episode, "The Terrible Tunnel." This also implies that Fraggles do not eat eggs.

Notes

  • There was a short production break before Season Two began. The last episode of the first season, "New Trash Heap in Town," was recorded in May 1983; this episode was recorded in September. The only major production or cast change was that Cheryl Wagner replaced Myra Fried as the voice and face of Ma Gorg.
  • Sprocket celebrates his birthday in this episode.
