SCENE 1 Maria, David, Big Bird and the kids are waiting for the bus to take them to Grandma Harriet's farm for the day. They invite Oscar along for the trip, but he has no interesting watching little kids have fun all day. Just as everyone boards the bus, he realizes the Grouchy potential a trip to the farm has (such as seeing pig stys and broken farm equipment). He misses the bus, so he makes the trip on foot (while in his can).

SCENE 2 The gang arrives on the farm to Harriet's delight. She sends most of the group inside for some fresh cider, while Big Bird goes to dine with his country cousins in the chicken coop. Oscar, having run the entire trip, has also just arrived and Harriet leads him to the barn where there's a nice, big mess.

SCENE 3 Maria rests under a tree, assuming the farm life is one of perpetual relaxation. She starts to sing about it, while David interjects with his own verses about the many chores one does on the farm.

The Country Mouse visits the City Mouse's apartment, and finds that his cousin eats pizza, doesn't mind traffic sounds, and listens to groovy music on his stereo. The Country Mouse is startled when he hears a cat. The City Mouse sighs, "Oh, that's just the cat. That means he's hungry, and he wants to catch us and eat us for dinner." Horrified, the Country Mouse goes back to the country, where he's safe. The City Mouse offers the cat a bite of pizza.

Ernie counts balloons -- but the balloon gets bigger and bigger, finally bursting with a huge explosion that wakes Bert up again.
