SCENE 1 | Telly Monster explains that Linda has invited him over to her apartment for a visit. When he rings the doorbell, he remembers that Linda is deaf, and that she's not going to hear it. While he goes on, Linda opens the door and watches him in puzzlement. Telly finally turns around to see her, and does his best to convey the question of how she knew he rang her doorbell. Linda leads him in and points to a light above her door. Telly understands, and explains that the light turns on when someone rings the doorbell. | |

When she closes the door, Big Bird wants to see if it will work for him and rings the bell, which summons an annoyed Linda who asks them to stop playing around and closes the door again. Deena excitedly announces that it's her turn, rings the bell, and is greeted by an angry Linda who tells them to stop, causing them to cower in the corner of the hall. Bob arrives with Linda's laundry, but the gang warns him not to ring the doorbell. He does anyway, and the others run in fear; Linda opens the door fuming mad, signing something furiously and slams the door in Bob's face (to his confusion). | |
