	SCENE 1	Telly Monster is supposed to introduce today's number, but has forgotten what it is. Big Bird brings in his "Number of the Day Machine" to help, but Telly is certain he'll break it somehow. They start counting up from one and the machine doesn't respond, which Telly takes as being his fault. Big Bird encourages him to keep counting up, and once they reach 6 the machine does its usual fanfare. Big Bird celebrates while Telly becomes despondent: "I broke your machine!"

	Muppets	At a library, Cookie Monster asks an Anything Muppet librarian for a box of cookies. The librarian becomes extremely frustrated because Cookie Monster doesn't understand the library doesn't have cookies! (First: Episode 0926)

	SCENE 2	Gordon and the kids think of words beginning with S. Oscar tries to chime in with his favorite S word, which Gordon is certain will be something like "scram" or "skedaddle" given Oscar's history with such lectures. He takes the kids somewhere else, while Oscar reveals the S word he had in mind was Slimey.

	Muppets	Ernie finds an apple on a brick wall, and wants to know who it belongs to. Sherlock Hemlock helps solve the mystery, and realizes that Ernie has a brown paper bag with a hole at the bottom, and that Ernie had an apple in the bag, therefore the apple belongs to Ernie. (First: Episode 0137)

	SCENE 3	Oscar introduces a segment about today's word by hanging a sign on his trash can: "CLOSED."

Mr. Hooper produces his scale to measure the amount, then bags it so Telly can't worry about how he'll carry it. Mr. Hooper anticipates more things that Telly might worry about along the way back to Big Bird's nest, but Telly suggests for Mr. Hooper to relax and not worry so much.

After this happens once more, the ball winds up flattened. Big Bird knows what to do now as well - get a grown-up to find a new ball.

	SCENE 7	Gordon, Susan, and the kids are in on the game of basketball when Mr. Hooper comes over to watch. They encourage him to play too, but he doesn't think he has the knack for it. After they get him to make a practice shot, Mr. Hooper is able to sink a basket the next time. He continues to try to make more baskets (some while facing backwards) as Big Bird announces the sponsors.
