SCENE 3 | When Bob passes Oscar's trash can, he's met with a spattering of joyful observations from Oscar the Grouch. Bob is dumbfounded as Oscar explains that he, like other Grouches, is having a "nice day" today (the equivalent of a person having a "bad day"). Oscar feels miserable, so Bob comes up with the idea of treating him nicely, hoping that will spoil his sweet mood. He gets the help of Gordon and Susan, who proceed to talk about how beautiful of a day it is today. Oscar regrets to inform them that their niceness hasn't changed his mood, and returns their gesture with some compliments. Oscar retreats into his can and lets out a cry of desperation. | |
