SCENE 1 Big Bird explains to Herb the horse that everyone is going to have a luau for Cody, who is turning one year old today. He's been put in charge to make sure everything goes smoothly, and calls his friends to wake up so they can get ready for the big day in Hawaii. He has instructed the kids to let Bob, Mr. Hooper, Olivia, and Maria know what they need to do for the party while he goes off to look for Mr. Snuffleupagus.

Big Bird finds Snuffy and asks him to find some pretty seashells to give to Cody as a birthday present. After Snuffy leaves, Big Bird realizes that he's given everybody an important job to do... except for himself! As Big Bird makes his way back to the party, glimpses of the Sesame Street and Hawaiian friends are seen busy at work - Olivia helps Samson catch some fish, Mr. Hooper assists in stringing flower leis, Boogie shows the others how he's making hats out of coconut leaves, and Bob helps gather coconuts. Big Bird blames himself for taking too much time trying to find Mount Snuffleupagus with Snuffy, but when he finally arrives Buffy congratulates him at how well he has organized everything. He helps pass out some leis as the guests begin to arrive.

Muppets Grover the Assistant: Grover volunteers to assist the Amazing Mumford in his suspension act. Grover will get on top of a platform, and Mumford will pull the pillar off from underneath, and the platform will not fall. The trick works, so Grover decides to try it himself, with Herry Monster as his assistant. Grover can't pull it off, and Herry falls.

SCENE 2 Boogie starts the festivities by blowing a ceremonial conch shell. followed by the group singing "Happy Birthday to You" in Hawaiian. Aunty Nona delivers a name chant in Hawaiian, translated by Boogie. Everyone takes turns giving Cody presents, including a small flower lei from Big Bird, a big white shell from Snuffy (poking his snuffle through the decorations, unseen by everybody), and even a tin can lei from Oscar.

Muppets Cookie Monster and Ernie: Ernie and Cookie Monster discuss hope. Ernie has something in a brown paper bag, and asks Cookie Monster what he hopes it is. Cookie Monster hopes that it is a cookie. It turns out that Ernie has ten cookies in the bag.

SCENE 8 The day after the party, the gang has returned at the airport ready to head back to Sesame Street and saying good-bye to Buffy and her family. On the plane, Big Bird is disappointed that Snuffy hasn't made it for the flight back home and wants to wait for him. Maria doesn't want to hear any more of it and suggests for him to take a nap, as she plans on doing the same. Big Bird begins to tear up... until he feels Snuffy's snuffle poking out of the overhead compartment! Big Bird shushes Snuffy so he won't wake anybody, and gives his snuffle a hug.
