Meanwhile, the adults decide to go to the park to have a picnic and play some baseball; they all disperse to get their gear. Once the area is empty, Big Bird and Snuffy show up wondering where everybody went. They go back to Big Bird's nest when Snuffy spots the group reconvened in the yard. | David is baffled when Mr. Hooper decides to suddenly close his store at lunchtime. Mr. Hooper asks him to gather everyone on Sesame Street to the store's door, though David isn't told why. Big Bird assumes it's something spectacular like a ride on a hot air balloon and starts getting everyone exited for the non-existent ride. Mr. Hooper reveals his secret once everybody shows up: today is the store's 25th anniversary, and he has decorated it for a surprise party! Everybody (now joined by Bert and The Count) piles into the store for the celebration.

SCENE 1 As everyone mingles around Sesame Street, Grover is surprised to see the viewer as he hums to the "Sesame Street Theme." He realizes that nobody else has seen them, so he asks the viewer to hide until he tells them to come out. After gathering everybody (Luis, Bob, Mr. Hooper, Maria, Susan, David, Gordon, Big Bird, and the kids) closer, he asks the gang to close their eyes. On the count of three, Grover prompts the viewer to come out and surprise everybody; needless to say, it works!
