SCENE 1 Oscar notices a lady wearing a broad-brimmed hat sitting on the stoop of 123 Sesame Street reading a book. He tries to get her to scram, only to have the woman ignore him. Oscar wonders if this stubborn person is a fellow Grouch, and tosses some junk loudly onto the street. He then starts banging the lid of his trash can while his radio blares a crummy version of "Goody Goody;" the lady still doesn't react. Oscar informs Maria and David that he may be in love with this individual, who Maria points out is actually their deaf friend Linda. They introduce her to Oscar, who learns she isn't a Grouch after all when she gives him a big kiss to prove it.
