SCENE 1 As the opening music plays at a much slower, sorrowful pace, David wonders out loud when everyone will return from New Mexico. He especially misses Maria, who at that point sneaks up on him and gives him a kiss, and the two have a happy reunion. She recalls the fun she had helping build a house and hanging out with Buffy, adding that there was just one thing missing: David. David helps Maria with her bag, stopping short to share a passionate embrace with her.

SCENE 3 Big Bird and the kids are playing ball, but the ball rolls into one of the barrel tunnels in the playground. Big Bird tries different methods to get into the barrel to retrieve it, but he's too big no matter what he tries. Shola is able to get the ball since she's small enough to fit, and Big Bird feels discouraged about being so big. Everybody moves on to playing "house" instead and piles into Big Bird's nest as Big Bird looks for a baby doll for their game. They find one stacked up on a high place, but David (one of the older kids) is too little to reach it. Big Bird is able to get to it with ease, realizing that it's okay to either be big or small. Big Bird starts the game, deciding to be a grouchy parent and starts chewing out the kids.

His friends decide to cooperate and help him out, with Big Bird answering the phone, Bob and Maria taking care of the food, and David (the kid) making the deliveries. SCENE 6 Bob has to mail some letters, but Big Bird feels it's such a bad day to do so. He shows some of the hazards that he may encounter, such as David sitting atop a ladder as he touches up the Hooper's Store sign, the kids playing ball in the yard, and Biff drilling up the sidewalk with his jackhammer. Big Bird offers some additional, more outlandish scenarios that could happen (like an elephant bumping into David's ladder) as they make their way down the street. Bob casually tosses his mail into the mailbox as Big Bird begs him to reconsider, then commends him for his ability to avoid such dangers.
