SCENE 2 | Maria and David invite Cookie Monster to go for a walk. As he descends the stoop of 123 Sesame Street, he slips on a stray rollerskate and falls to the sidewalk. They check on him and find the accident has caused him to lose his memory, to the point where he doesn't even know what cookies are. Cookie thanks the strangers for their hospitality.
Cartoon | "Poverty Q": A figure demonstrates Q words, despite the unruly stem of his letter Q that keeps detaching itself. Artist: Cliff Roberts (First: Episode 0048)
SCENE 3 | Oscar greets Cookie, who suspects he's a Grouch (citing their shared shaggy fur and hairy paws). Oscar gives him a test to see how much of a Grouch he is. He presents Cookie with a choice of two shoes - one nice and one dirty; Cookie picks the nice one. He then produces two images of a happy and sad face; Cookie again chooses the non-grouchy option. Finally, Cookie attempts to (pretend) tell off somebody for giving him nice flowers, but just doesn't have the rotten attitude in him. This concludes that he's not a Grouch.

Cartoon | A blue man (voiced by Casey Kasem) explains that “Q” starts the word “quarter.” (First: Episode 0046)
SCENE 4 | Cookie mopes through Big Bird's nest area, sad over his lost identity. He meets Big Bird and guesses he might be a bird as well - a furry, blue bird to be exact. He tries proving he can tweet and flap his wings, which isn't very convincing to Big Bird. He gives the monster one final test - he presents him with a dish of birdseed to eat. Cookie pours it into his mouth, but is quickly appalled by the taste and concludes he is no bird after all. "Maybe he's an antelope," Big Bird posits.
Cartoon | Q -- that funny looking thing. (First: Episode 0131)
Film | A young baboon sits on the back of their parent as they cross the plain. Music: Joe Raposo (First: Episode 0299)

Film | George the Farmer demonstrates beginning and end. (First: Episode 0265)
SCENE 6 | Although Cookie's head is feeling better, he still has no memory of who he is. Maria tells him he's "the Cookie Monster," and he briefly gets scared; he's afraid of monsters. Maria assures him that he's a nice monster and hopes to jog his memory with a game of "One of These Things" using cookies. Afterwards, she encourages him to try one (though he thinks it's a rock or button at first). He takes a sample bite, but this only earns an unimpressed "eh" from him.
Muppets | Ernie & Bert — Bert tells Ernie not to eat cookies in bed, because he might get crumbs in the bed. Ernie decides to eat cookies in Bert's bed instead. (First: Episode 0282)
SCENE 7 | Maria and David feel bad for Cookie Monster's fate, while Mr. Hooper takes umbrage with whoever left the rollerskate on the stoop (which he places back down on it). Cookie emerges from the building, still sad, and everyone invites him to sit and hang on the stoop. He once again slips on the skate and hits the sidewalk, only now he immediately recognizes everyone. As they ask him more questions, he thinks they're playing some kind of quiz game and asks for cookies as his prize. Mr. Hooper eagerly presents him with a whole plate of cookies, which everyone gleefully watches him devour.
