SCENE 6 David finds a poem entitled "The Fisherman" on the sidewalk. He reads it to the kids, leaving out the last word in each verse so that they can figure out the appropriate rhyme. The final word of the last verse, which rhymes with "man," is left a mystery as the edge of the paper is torn off. Oscar, who turns out to be the poem's author, supplies David with the missing words: "old shoe." David confronts Oscar, who reveals he couldn't think of a rhyme for "man." The kids mention several rhyming words, but Oscar prefers "old shoe."

SCENE 8 Lillian explains that we can sometimes tell how somebody feels by looking at their face. She then asks the kids to make a mad face. Lillian also explains that another way we can tell how somebody feels is by the tone of their voice. As an example, she says, "The weather report says it's going to snow tomorrow" and variations of that in two ways -- first mad, then happy. She ends by telling everybody how happy they made her, but she does it in a sad voice, which the kids also pick up on.
