Gordon, Mr. Hooper and Susan suggest some complimentary rhymes about his friend, but Oscar would rather write grouchy rhymes. He retaliates with a poem about his not-so-helpful neighbors: "Next time I write a poem, and ask your advice, believe me, I'm certainly going to think about it twice!"

They then list some of the tree's drawbacks, like loud singing birds and the wind whistling through it. Oscar suddenly likes the tree, and gives it a hug. They say goodbye (though Oscar contrarily says, "hello") and Mr. Hooper announces the sponsors.
