Big Bird forgets how many potatoes Susan wants, but remembers it's the same amount as the number of fingers Mr. Hooper has. Big Bird counts each finger of Mr. Hooper's outstretched hands as he plops each potato into the bag, to Mr. Hooper's detriment. To make sure he's got the right amount, he compares the potatoes to Mr. Hooper's fingers, dumping all the potatoes out of the bag in the process.

Indeed, Producer Jon Stone is rather proud of the bloopers. When a kid on the show asked Folk Singer Leon Bibb in mid-chant, "How come you're sweatin'?," it was left in.[1]
