SCENE 2 Gordon and Big Bird are still puzzling over the R. Susan enters and they explain to her what happened, and that there is no spell in the book for removing the letter. Susan looks through the book and discovers that there is a spell for changing giant letters into something else. Susan casts a spell which makes the R disappear, but then it pours rain!

Since the rain is gone, Susan walks over to the yard to read Maybe a Monster by Martha Alexander. She then wonders out loud what Ernie and Bert are up to.

Muppets Ernie attempts to make toast, but he thinks there's something wrong with Bert's side of the toaster. Bert points out that one slice of bread is too thick to fit in the toaster. He tells Ernie to insert the thinner slice, which works. Now Ernie thinks his side of the toaster has the problem.

Much to Ernie's surprise, the ice cubes have disappeared. Since they were replaced with water, Ernie suspects that a fish might have stolen them. Bert tells him that it's because they've melted. Ernie, however, is now convinced that a fish melted the ice cubes, and angrily walks out the door to "tear him fin-from-fin."
