The Elmo Goatherd Family are a group of Elmo Variants who appeared in the Families episode of "Elmo's World." Following an encounter with the Oinker Sisters, Dorothy imagines Elmo as a family of singing goatherds. The group consists of a mustachioed Father Elmo and two pigtailed Daughter Elmos. The Elmo family members all have blonde hair, implying Swiss or Nordic European ethnicity.
The sequence references The Sound of Music, through costuming, concept, and especially Father Elmo (named Elmo Von Trapp in the segment's script), whose first line is "The hills are alive with the sounds of music!" This is demonstrated by a constantly swaying hill in the background. The trio, accompanied by their goat, performs a yodeling song.
