Noyes in 1964

Eliot Noyes Jr., also known as Eli Noyes, is an animator, filmmaker, and and illustrator. He directed the Mad Painter series for Sesame Street and created animated inserts, usually involving clay or sand (as with the Sand Alphabet series).

Noyes received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Subject, for his 1965 short Clay or the Origin of the Species. His other shorts include The Fable of He and She (1974) as well as various commercials and network IDs. In children's television, Noyes directed episodes of the puppet series Eureeka's Castle. In 2008, he directed the online environmental animated pilot Gorilla in the Greenhouse.
