Muppets Tonight guest star
episode 205
Rickles

Rickles, dressed as Kermit.

Don Rickles (1926-2017) was a comedian known for his insult humor, beginning as a standup in the 1950s and extending in the sixties to television and films. He was a guest star on Muppets Tonight in episode 205.

Rickles was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show and a recurring foil in the sixties Beach Party movies (with a different name, but usually explained as the same character changing occupations, from 1964's Muscle Beach Party to Beach Blanket Bingo the following year, four movies in all). Later, Rickles became familiar to a new generation as the voice of Mr. Potato Head in Pixar's Toy Story movies.

In addition to being a staple of the talk show circuit, Rickles starred on several sitcoms, most notably CPO Sharkey (1976-1978), and guest starred on a range of shows (often in offbeat parts), including Gilligan's Island (as a kidnapper), The Andy Griffith Show, Get Smart, The Wild Wild West (as a Satanist magician), The Twilight Zone, The Addams Family, and All in the Family. Films, sometimes in non-comedic parts, include Run Silent Run Deep (his film debut, in the WWII drama starring Burt Lancaster), Kelly's Heroes, Innocent Blood, and Casino. He was the subject of John Landis' 2007 documentary Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project. Later credits include the voice of Cornwall in the Warner Bros. feature Quest for Camelot and playing Mr. Wilson in a direct-to-video Dennis the Menace sequel.

Rickles worked with the Muppets again when he made a guest appearance on Tony Bennett's 90th birthday special, Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come where he appeared alongside Regis Philbin and Miss Piggy in a replica of Statler and Waldorf's Box.
