Dinosaurs was adapted into comic form for two issues published in 1992 and 1993 by Hollywood Comics (which was then owned by Disney). The 48-page paperback comic book featured comic stories based on the Dinosaurs TV show. Each issue contained four different stories. Additionally, stand-alone stories surfaced in Disney Adventures magazine during this time. The principal writer for most of the comics was John Workman, and other employees came from the inhouse Disney staff.

The end of the comic book was exacerbated by both the TV series' ratings and scheduling changes, but more so by the dissolution of Disney Comics as an in-house, American-based entity. The label ended production in the summer of 1993, with the company's various US titles either reverting to Gladstone Publishing or ceasing publication entirely, and its comics output now being limited to supplements for Disney Adventures.
