Diana, Princess of Wales (1961 - 1997) was born into an aristocratic family as The Honourable Diana Spencer, who became a public figure upon her engagement to Charles, Prince of Wales. Her marriage to the prince was spoofed in the Spring 1983 issue of Muppet Magazine as "A Royal Romance: The Frog Prince and Lady Pi".

When talking of Diana's relationship to Queen Elizabeth II, the Daily Mail columnist Lynda Lee-Potter wrote,

Diana is possibly the only member of the royal family who doesn't kowtow the instant she is fixed with one of the Queen's terrifying Miss Piggy looks.[1]
