Bishop Desmond Tutu (b. 1931) is a South African cleric and activist who became famous for opposing apartheid in the 1980s.

He has appeared on Takalani Sesame, the South African co-production of Sesame Street, and was honored at Sesame Workshop's 2004 Gala.
