Derek T. Scott (1921-2006) served as musical associate on The Muppet Show, in which capacity he contributed musical ideas, commissioned arrangements, and accompanied guest stars.

Scott played the piano tracks heard on the series, including all of Rowlf's performances. He wrote the theme music heard in many Muppet Show sketches, such as Pigs in Space, Fozzie's Monologues, Swedish Chef and Veterinarian's Hospital. He also wrote "Sweet Tooth Jam" for episode 110 and "Pig Calypso" for episode 221.

Scott worked as a musical director for many stage shows for London's West End, including two Royal Variety Performances. For ATV, he served as musical associate for many television specials, such as Julie on Sesame Street. Though Scott retired from television in 1982, he provided Rowlf's piano playing once more for what became the album Ol' Brown Ears is Back, recorded in January 1984. He died on May 27, 2006 at age 84.
