Dennis Franz (b. 1944) is best known for his Emmy Award winning role as Det. Andy Sipowicz on the ABC television drama NYPD Blue. Franz appeared as a guest during Season 30 of Sesame Street, where Telly Monster offers to be his "alphabet partner".
Other credits include playing Earl in the Dixie Chicks' music video "Goodbye Earl", Capt. Carmine Lorenzo in Die Hard 2, and Spike in the live action musical Popeye.
